Matt Sconce

Matt Sconce is the Chief Creative Officer and Co-Founder of the start-up company Movie Heroes, the Co-Founder of Movie Heroes Studios as well as a multi-award winning Filmmaker with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication. Sconce also owns a five screen movie theater by Yosemite National Park.

Matt has produced twelve short films, written six feature screenplays, produced seven feature films, three of which he directed. His feature Stricken was released by Warner Bros/Gravitas on 15 million televisions and is now available on DVD. His comedy feature, FIREFALL – An Epic Family Adventure, was released limited theatrically in 2013, is now out on Bluray and DVD and his editing skills for Local NBC affiliate KSEE24 were nominated for an EMMY. Sconce recently completed production on his found footage horror film, Altar and is preparing it for release in 2016.

Sconce has won and been nominated for many awards in the festival circuit including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, etc for many of his projects. The most recent short he produced, The Astronaut, screened in the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner and has qualified for the Academy Awards.

Sconce led a marketing campaign with Movie Heroes that saved a small town theater from closing and they have developed a new method for theaters to do business and this process is gaining national recognition with articles in the LA Times, Forbes and CNN.

In 2014 Sconce was inducted into the Elite Black Belt Hall of Fame as a Senior Master of his Martial Art system The Way. He also holds Black Belts in Tae Kwon Do, Seieido, and Eagle ASDA, as well as instructor status in Shaolin Kenpo.
