In The Corruptor (1999) a New York City policeman, Danny Wallace (Mark Wahlberg), is a young cop assigned to the Asian Gang Unit run by Nick Chen (Yun-Fat Chow), a highly decorated member of the New York Police Department and the first Chinese-born immigrant on the force. Chen’s job is to keep the peace in Chinatown where there is a turf war between the Triads and the ruthless Fukienese Dragons run by Bobby Vu (Byron Mann), who wants to control the drug trafficking in Chinatown, something that the old Chinese Triad has always done. Benny Chan (Kim Chan) is the boss of the Triad and Henry Lee (Ric Young) is Benny’s right hand man and the one person who has dealings with all the other main characters. When the Tongs boldly attempt to bribe Wallace, Chen is forced to keep Wallace faithful to the task at hand.
