Adam James is an actor, writer, director, producer, and internationally renowned martial arts expert. Adam is a Screen Actors Guild member and had supporting roles in Under Siege (1992) with Steven Seagal and Steal Big Steal Little (1995) with Andy Garcia. Recently, Adam played the lead role in the television pilot movie “East of West” for Sky Dragon Productions International, and he has agreed to star in the action thriller film “Recon.”
Born in the New York City area, Adam James moved to Honolulu, Hawaii at the age of 9 and went to the prestigious Punahou school. Adam’s uncle is Hal James, the Tony award winning Broadway producer of “Man of La Mancha” and a boxing television producer from New York. Adam attended Northwestern University in Chicago, and studied Writing, Theater and Film, while playing Defensive End for the football team. Then Adam completed the Advanced Screen Writing program at the University of Hawaii.
After moving to Los Angeles, Adam James studied Method acting with Renee Harmon and Advanced Improv for Film with Tim Simek, and he also attended the Shakespeare Masters Class with Lynn Redgrave. In Los Angeles, Adam auditioned for Under Siege (1992) at Warner Brothers Studios and worked for the award winning director Andy Davis. Later, Andy Davis wrote a principle supporting role with Adam in mind for his film Steal Big Steal Little (1995) and Adam acted with many top actors including Alan Arkin, Andy Garcia, Rachel Ticotin, Kevin McCarthy, David Ogden Stiers, Richard Bradford, and Joe Pantoliano.
Adam James is the Vice President of Sky Dragon International, and his mentor is Leo Fong, an international action film star and Bruce Lee‘s close friend and training partner. Adam has been featured in numerous martial arts magazines including Black Belt, Masters Magazine, Journal of Asian Martial Arts, and FMA Informative; and he has worked as a martial arts consultant and fight choreographer for film.
As the Founder of Rainbow Warrior Martial Arts, Adam James is an instructor of Kempo, Karate, Kung Fu, Wei Kuen Do, Jujitsu, Muay Thai kickboxing, boxing, wrestling, Escrima, Kenjutsu and Kobudo (weapons). Adam James is a 10th Level Instructor from Grandmaster Leo Fong in the styles of Wei Kuen Do, Chi Fung and Modern Escrima. Adam is also a 5th Degree Black Belt in Kempo, Karate, Jujitsu, and Kobudo under Professor Michael Dela Vega. In addition, Adam is the former Director of Marketing for World Black Belt, a martial arts website company founded by Chuck Norris, Bob Wall, Gene LeBell and 50 of the world’s greatest martial artists. Adam James is also the creator of the MMA Trainer certification program for the National College of Exercise Professionals, which has been endorsed by the Commissioner of MMA for the State of Hawaii, the US Vets, and the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
