Eddie Perez

Eddie Perez is the first Hispanic to be nominated and win Emmy’s in the category “Outstanding Stunt Coordinator in A Comedy Series or A Variety Program in both 2016 and 2017” for Shamless (2011).

Eddie Perez was born in New York, a city where someone can stay indoors and watch the world go by, or get out and participate in all the city has to offer. Eddie Perez chose the latter. An active kid, he spent his summers with family in Puerto Rico. Putting his ambition to work, he achieved the honor of Eagle Scout at only thirteen years old.

Eddie loved athletics and continued his athleticism in high school He played just about every sport possible and was a Golden Gloves boxer.

Eddie Perez attended Long Island University in New York and graduated with a degree in education, a minor in biology and athletic training accredited hours. While attending the university, he found work as a doorman at some of New York City’s hot spots such as Heartbreaks, The Fun House and The Underground, to name a few. While working those nightclubs, Eddie met many celebrities which would lead to a few different careers.

Eddie Perez was always known for his level headedness, his smarts, and for being in great physical shape. After finishing college, Eddie was asked by Mickey Rourke to leave New York and head to Los Angeles where he would train Mickey and Anthony Michael Hall. While training Hall, Eddie met the band Duran Duran, in their prime at the time, and Eddie worked for the band as both their personal trainer and bodyguard. Eddie worked his way up to Head of Security and then was hired as the Head of Security for Pink Floyd as well. Between both acts, Eddie went on seven plus world tours.

Never one to slack, Eddie’s travels allowed him to continue to train in VIP protection programs in places like Israel, South Africa, and the United States. Once he was no longer touring or doing bodyguard work for a variety of stars including Sylvester Stallone and Sandra Bullock, Eddie decided he wanted to pursue what would become his true passion, stunt work and acting.

When he wasn’t working, Eddie was studying acting with Peter Flood, stunts with Paul Stater, as well as taking other classes available to help better his craft. As with everything he attempted, Eddie’s reputation for working hard preceded him, and he began to be offered work as a stunt coordinator and stuntman.

Now well known by his peers in the business, Eddie Perez became stunt coordinator and 2nd Unit Director for films like Blade (1998) and Shoot ‘Em Up (2007). For television he has stunt coordinated Shameless for 5 seasons and has won and been nominated for Emmys for his work on the show. As a performer he can be seen in Sicario (2015) and Deadpool (2016) and more. He also directed a multiple award winning short, The Test of Time (2015), which he sold to Shorts TV.

Eddie Perez has always had one goal, to help put the scripted vision on film in the most practical and safe manner without compromising creativity, and this is what he does.
